High rate DLA and free boiler

Hello
My daughter gets high rate care DLA and we were wondering if we would be eligible to receive a free boiler or subsidised one? Not sure if we would have to be in receipt of other benefits also.
Thank you

Hi OP,
I don't think it does entitle you to one as it is not a means tested benefit. it is usually means tested benefits only, such as income based JSA or ESA. There may however be new rules that I don't know of, so please check first.
MSE has a page on it - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/free-cavity-loft-insulation which might help but it does say it is for income based means tested benefit claimants only, and DLA does not fall into that category.
Do you get any Tax Credits? That might get you on, but check the guide.0 -

To take advantage of this scheme you have to go to a green deal company, if you go to the green deal participants register and search for one that works in your area and give them a call they will be able to tell you what grants and funding is available for you."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
We looked into this (two children who were on high rate care and mobility at the time) and unfortunately it's not possible. The benefits have to be means tested ones. We got a loan for the boiler!0

I think you're mistaken - they are means tested, and some are done by utility companies.
Did you read the MSE article before typing?0 -

I am not mistaken, have you read about the scheme before typing? It is called the energy companies obligation (ECO)
all companies that offer these installations must be a green deal installer they get paid through the energy companies obligation brokerage system by one of the big six."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -

Indeed I did read about it - doesn't mention that anywhere on any of the sites I have looked at. They must not have updated them or I was looking in the wrong place.
The OP has the information now, thanks for putting your bit in as I didn't know about it.0 -

The MSE guidance in this scheme is very bad. I will provide links later."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
