Where to purchase remote control key fob?

Hi Folks


I recently bought a Seat Ibiza - it came out in March 2011. The dealer supplied me 2 keys - one with the remote control fob and the other without. If I want to buy another remote control fob, do I have to go to the dealers or could I buy it cheaper elsewhere?

Id forget the word cheap, you are looking at a minimum of £100 and probably much more. Seat/vw/Skoda garages should all be able to source the fobs for you, i think you will struggle to find elsewhere that can get then at all let alone cheaper.

Unfortunately its the fob that costs money so although you may save money by getting someone with VCDS to programme it for you for a beer token, the majority of the cost cannot be avoided.

The only hope is buying a used key from eBay etc and getting someone with VCDS to programme it. Join some seat forums and ask for local VCDS users and check what is and isn't possible.

You can do it with second hand parts and what not, depends how much you really want a third fob.

Second, but i had a golf which broke the key. Two hours labour and best part of 200 quid for the key alone. Glad i werent paying.
