Is this artex?

Hello everyone,
I have just bought a house and we would like to do some works, but we are both inexperienced.
One thing we would like to do is to remove the textured ceiling, and I have read that it might be dangerous if they are made of Artex produced before the mid 80's ( The house was built in the 30's , and some of the decorations have definitely a 70's look and feel ).
That said I am not sure whether is just wall paper, Artex or a combination of both ( if it's possible ). It's basically a layer of cardboard, coated with a very thin layer of a white substance.
The pattern looks very much like the one on the wikipedia page but you can see somewhere the signs of sheets ( at least that's what they look like to me) and it doesn't look hand made ( is quite regular, it seems to repeat every 15cm).
You can see some pictures here imgur .com/a/kUrng (sorry for the broken link but the system does not allow me to insert links, you can remove the space to make it work).
do you know whether is artex or no? And if it isn't could you point me out on what's the best way to remove it ?
Thank you
andrea

Not sure, but leaning towards painted textured wall paper.0

it is embossed wall paper on to a 1970's insulation board0
-
painted wallpaper by the looks of that, it's the fibreboard underneath that "may contain" ACM. No need to start ripping things out all you need to do is board over with plasterboard and re skim the ceilings to encapsulate any potential hazard. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

You have a great deal more important things to do then worry ( or deal with ) than this. Give it a fresh coat of paint and learn to live with it.and I have read that it might be dangerous
Could / might/ maybe or words that are used, personally I have always thought that asbestos in Artex is so low on the danger list that it can be forgotten.0 -
I had "painted textured wallpaper". That meant it was anaglypta.
As far as I found out, anaglypta put in place in the 1970s would contain asbestos if it were the American "look-alike" paper that was made at the time and wouldn't contain it if it were the "real deal" (ie made by the English firm).
I decided to put up fake ceilings all round anyway and its been covered up (whatever it is).0
