Credit report Financial connection error

Hi all,
Recently I tried to purchase a new car on finance only to my biggest surprise to find that I was declined! So then I tried a bank loan which was also declined... Alarm bells started to ring, so I decided to get my Experian credit file which came back as "Excellent" which only made me more confused. After some digging, I found out that the car company seeks a credit file from "CallCredit" so I thought I would give that a try.
At this point I should make it clear that I earn £22k + I live at home with my parents with no rent/mortgage, no bills, no dependents, no debts whatsoever and about £10k savings.
According to CallCredit, I am financially connected to my mother who has a CCJ (2010). I am not now nor have I ever been financially connected to my mother. I have never had a joint account. I have already spoken to my bank "Nationwide" who confirms that I do not have any financial connection. CallCredit give me a score of 1/5 whereas Experian gave me 975/1000 (what a contrast). I also believe this problem has also been the reason why I failed an SC (security clearance check) last year!
Please can I have advice on what is the best thing to do here, as it has caused me a lot of distress!
Many thanks in advance.

Contact call credit and ask them to remove the financial link.I have enough money to last me the rest of my life,as long as I die next Tuesday.0

The link had to be created by an account, do you have the same name as your dad? Contact them to get it removed as mentioned above. No guarantee the association was the cause, it might be. It could be the amount you wish to borrow is too big a risk on top of existing debt or as a percentage of your salary. Do you have any history of credit? Are you on the electoral roll? There are many factors.0

Yes, you need to find out which incompetent organisation did this. It's almost too much of a coincidence about the erroneous link and the CCJ. If it's materially affected you in any way you should seek some form of redress, up to and including legal action against perpetrators.0 -
thanks for you replies. Yes I do have the same first and surname as my dad. Is it possible this is why it has occurred? Can the credit agency remove this error?0

Yes they can, your credit report will be mixed with your dad's, this can happen when you have the same name at the same address. This is why you're linked to your mum.0 -

There's no excuse for this on the part of the CRAs. All the organisations you deal with try to collect your DoB for this very reason - to report you to the CRAs. So if the organisation in question hasn't got your DoB they shouldn't be reporting you, and if they do and the CRA can't do a match, they should be rejecting the data. Extremely bad data processing practice all round.0 -
I don't mind saying this has honestly caused me a lot of distress over the past few weeks and has affected the relationship with my parents (as I didn't know they had a CCJ) until this was revealed to me! Have they broken data protection laws here?0
-
Not really, CCJs are a matter of public record although you normally have to pay to find out.0

I just wanted to say thanks again for your posts, I had a reply from CallCredit and they have investigated and are in the process of removing this from my record. Hopefully I will be able to apply for credit soon!0
