You can also ask for references from other people as well, previous employers college, or school if you are young enough
or even personal references can all help. At the least offer them, will show willing and that you have nothing to hide- openness is key.
Peronally it will be your CRB thats the most important thing.
Eg, if i was volunteering, my current manager might say im not motivated - whereas you can say- thats because the jobs boring and youd rather be working with kids!
All the best

x:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I work in a school, (I think we met on another thread?), we had a reference from one of the big banks and all they will say (and this person had worked there three years) is that they can confirm the person worked there for the relevant dates. We accepted that as it was combined with another reference, the CRB and list 99. You really need to talk to the people you are volunteering with to find out what they need.0

You might want to warn your current employer WHY you're asking for a reference, ie to do voluntary work rather than because you're moving on! (Even if you are planning to move on, you may not want them to know that yet!)
But in this situation the reference shouldn't need to confirm more than that you exist and you're not lying about your employment record.
Best of luck!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
