Unfortunately I would say that he does need to BUT he needs to keep a record of when and what he has paid. As I said, if he is paying the CSA then he should not be paying the mortgage as well.

If he continues to pay the mortgage he will be better off in the long run because there will be no black marks on his credit rating and he will get another mortgage more easily. Also there is less acrimony and if the children have another 10 years before leaving secondary education that is a long time if things are going to turn sour. As has been pointed out, he is unlikely to get 50% of the proceeds, in my experience getting 30% would be a result! 20-25% is more likely. Does he have a pension? It may be that his ex wife will agree to leave his pension if he signs the house over to her (just a warning - it may not happen!)

As a single person with no dependants living with him (man or woman) then has he checked his entitlements on www.entitledto.co.uk ? Its a good website and will let him know if he has missed anything out even if it is housing benefit or council tax benefit, every little helps!
He will need to marry again and have his own property.

Didnt really understand this bit?! If he is marrying again then surely there will be two incomes coming into the household and so a deposit would be easier?
