Santander are not BR friendly.
...not friendly full stop. Sent me a VERY shirty letter when I went BR telling me they were nuking my account and they didn't do business with my kind - didn't owe them a penny either.
Barclays cash card account all the way. Have to open it in branch though and don't let them talk you into applying for a normal one as it'll only decline. Pre-discharge you most likely won't get online banking but after you should be good to go. About 3 years after I opened mine they approved a full account for me too.

Er, excuse me how the hell is that spam!!
The OP was asking for info on opening a bank account and that site IS specifically related to what they're asking for.
If this is representative of how unfriendly people are on here I won't bother.0 -

...deep breath and try to be nice mode engaged..
first of all your other post gives a link to a site...the link is incorrect the nearest site looks all professional BUT only starts to mention their fair "charges" in helping you on the road to bankruptcy....these sites are next to useless to be honest all they will do is rip vunerable people off....EVERY bit of info I everneeded over 7yrs since being bankrupt was here..usefull non judgemental and usually an answer to every question I ever had.
the link you "suggest" leads to a parked domain name page who's registered some time ago to an address in amsterdam...call me cynical but smells bad a mile away..
SECONDLY..the combined knowledge here is second to none all the information the OP needed is right at the top of the board..have a read might suprise you..
and someone who's a recent registered member posting what you did usually is someone who registers and makes random posts here and there just to build up to a level of posts where the REAL spam starts to happen....i'm all in favor of helping anyone here your more than welcome as well but loose the attitude thats helping nobody really at the end of the day is it?

The link isn't incorrect. Perhaps you didn't type it in correctly.
The website I refer to is set up and run by someone who has experienced this themselves. No ripping off, just honest advice.
He says............
My name is Mark Davis. I experienced bankruptcy in 2006 and since then I have dedicated my time to help others. I put this website together to help other people who are finding it difficult obtaining a bank account.
Perhaps you missed that part?
As for having attitude those who berated need to look at theirs first, especially considering the OP thanked me for the advice. I may be new to this forum but as someone who has worked in banking for over 20 years I may know a little.
Maybe you should try again??0 -
It may well be "honest advice" but to be frank - I doubt there is anything about BR that isn't on this site - I think this forum is probably the most comprehensive resource there is - anywhere - on BR0

I am very grateful for any help. people can only advise and give their opinion, at the end of the day it is up to me if I take the advice.
I now have a new account with Barclays and they were very helpful, it is the card cash account, which is ideal for my needs. :-)
Thanks to all of you, and don't be falling out! life's too short. x0 -

Link IS incorrect perhaps your wrong? (heaven forbid) how could I have missed the parts in bold when I couldnt get the web page to load in the 1st place....do a search for gods sake you'll find many many pages set up like "mark" and all they do in the end is prey on innocent people thinking they are the best for advice..advice here is and always will be FREE...sure it's not the one here?
