SONY LCD TV Bravia & HXD860 DVD Recorder faults

I've bought Sony LCD & RDR HXD860 DVD recorder less than 10 months ago.
Getting Sony to accept & respond to these faults that have occurred has & still is a nightmare. Firstly the place where I bought my electrical goods was STONEAUDIO. Their response was useless. Not even a return phone call.
So then I contacted Sony, firstly by email, then after taking over 2 weeks to get 2 replies I thought I’d try the phone. Some one will call me back I’m told. A day later I call & I’m told some one will call me back within 48 hours. A week later, no one has contacted me via phone, I’ve phoned every day over 6 days – nothing.
The faults – well the TV developed a flare or flame effect if something bright entered the bottom right hand side of the screen, it would flare all the way to the top of the screen. This has finally gone in for repair? With no return date given?
The DVD something that cost nearly £400 – well it started a month ago recording fuzzy images, especially faces. They’d have a weird look in playback. Then 2 weeks ago it started to turn itself off 11 minutes or so after starting to record a preset program that would be an hour long. Sony have emailed me back saying its a fault on the TV station who send out the signal regarding the program. I beg to differ. I couldn’t even turn it off yesterday after trying to record for 1hr.
So if any one out there has any guidance or help they can offer please reply. Has any one else got these faults with Sony or any other DVD recorder brand.
Thanks.

Your contract will be with the retailer - take it up with them and insist they remedy the problem within a reasonable period of time. If they refuse (try get that in writing and they're screwed) take them to the small claims court as they are in breech of contract. You are protected under the sale of goods act for up to 6 years and goods should be of an acceptable quality - these don't seem to be fitting that.0

Thanks for that Blacksheep its Saturday now & both Sony & StoneAudio fail to answer the phone. But first thing Monday I'll give it a shot. I'd also like to hear from others who might have a similar issue with the DVD recorder.0
