Summer bill only £40 less than winter?

Just curious really but do you expect your bills in summer months to be substantially less than in winter?
My current quarterly dual fuel bill with BG is only about £40 less than our winter one was when we had lights on longer and heating on etc. We're not in arrears or anything.

I need to check the bill properly but is this worth questioning with BG or have I missed something?

Thanks

Yes, much lower, because the heating is off-so your gas usage should be far lower. However your billing may reflect a debit from the previous billing which would make the balance lower than otherwise.
Lights have no major effect on your billing summer to winter-it's heating and hot water that matters, as you'll typically use 80% of your annual gas total in the 3 coldest months.

Do your bills actually reflect your consumption or are they random guesses (estimates) by the energy company. You should check the readings on your bills when they come in and ensure that they are the same as your meter. If they don't then get them corrected immediately otherwise arrears or overpayments can mount up.
As we don't know what your bills or consumption is then we don't know if £40 less is good or bad.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
