Never click ANY google adverts. Always check the websites are GOV ones.

Not all of these websites show as ads.

There's currently one for booking driving tests online.
Admittedly, it does appear below the official GOV website in Google search.

The top one in the search is clearly an ad.
It's called drivingtest.agency so despite redcards's 'idiots' insult, it's easy to see how people are caught out.

Thanks guys. I do hope redcar is not referring to us as "idiots" we are both usually very careful with purchasing anything on the internet and we can all make mistakes.

You weren't very careful in this instance. You weren't even a tiny bit careful.
    Hope over Fear. #VoteYes

The OP isn't saying her OH was careful in this instance.
She said they were usually very careful.

Although I've never been caught out by one of these websites, I can at least see how people could fall for them.

The people who I have no sympathy for are those who say they've been scammed, ripped-off etc when it's their own lack of care at fault.

But the OP here hasn't done that.
They have just asked for advice on how to proceed.
  • It really is very simple to not get caught out by these "lookalike" sites.

Just Google "How much does ****** *** *** cost" ? and you will get something like:-

    1964854270965d512b6914c78c593f99e9066d71.jpg

You get the "proper" price and the genuine website - AND a warning about unofficial sites; thrown in for free :D

The government are now starting a campaign which I have thought they should have done a while ago which tells people to start at http://gov.uk when trying to find information like this.
