Utility warehouse charging tenants £100 per service

Utility warehouse have begun to charge tenants £100 per service whereas they do not charge homeowners anything . can anyone tell me if there is a similar system in place for other electricity or utility companies.?
I am trying to gather more information on this for a blog post so if anyone can help it would be most appreciated as with increasing numbers of tenanted households this seems very unfair and discriminatory.

I should have said £100 per service as a bond against default0

Haven't got the foggiest what you are on about, if you elaborate a little maybe someone can help.0

I would have thought any company doesn't have to give credit to customers, maybe they feel tenants are a higher risk and hence want a bond. How do you know it doesn't apply to some home owners?0

So they pay £100 extra upfront....or what. A prepayment meter?:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Shop around for another supplier
This was on CAG a few years ago, UW where asking for £200 deposit from some new customers.
All Utility suppliers can ask for a deposit in advance to cover future bills if necessary , depends on your credit rating so on and regardless of if your a tenant or homeowner.
or they can fit a PPM....Advice given on Assured and Regulated Tenancy, Further advice should always be sought from a Solicitor....0 -
as above all providers bg etc can ask for this, a tenant is higher risk same as if you apply for a loanDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
