Apple order not arrived!

Id like to know what further rights I have and what steps I should take next?

I placed an order last Thursday online with Apple for three separate items.

They were being sent separately, two with the same courier (Syncreon). When they attempted delivery on Tuesday nobody was in. I work away from home during the week but only half a day on a Friday so I was prepared to take the Friday off (un-paid as Im a contractor) and arrange for the parcel to be delivered today.

They rang and left a voices mail message on my home phone on Thursday to say that they will attempt to deliver my parcel tomorrow (Friday).

I set out to do a few DIY jobs in the house when I got a phone call from Syncreon at 10:45am letting me know that the parcel would be delivered between 11am and 12 noon. I needed to nip out for a few bits but seen as my parcel would arrive within the hour I waited in. 12 noon came a went so I phoned the courier up at 1pm to find out what was happening as I was waiting in for my parcel. They said they would contact the local depot and ring me back.
4pm came and still no sign of the parcel or phone call so I rang them again to only be told they had got in contact with the depot and unfortunately the parcel hadn't been put on the van this morning and the driver has now finished for the day.

They offered for me to collect from the depot or re-arrange delivery for Monday but yet again nobody will be in during the delivery times and to travel half an hour down the motorway in rush hour traffic now is a no starter.

I read up on here regarding failed deliveries and took the 1st step to complain to the retail (Apple) They are trying to contact the courier and rearrange delivery at a more convenient time for me which now will be next Saturday.

Can I still write a letter of complaint to the retailer for loss of half a days pay in these circumstances?

Thanks in advance
Paul

Unless you have to take unpaid time off work on the next delivery attempt then technically you won't be losing any pay. You will be in the same financial position as if you had received the parcel today as you were meant to have done.

I would have thought your claim would be against the courier who did not deliver as arranged

The contract is with Apple to deliver the products so any claim would be against them. The courier has a contract with Apple and has no obligations to PaulC5. It would be up to Apple to pursue the courier (if their contract allows that).

Of course this would be completely different in a situation where the buyer arranges for goods to be collected from a seller.
