Can I claim PPI from Defaulted account?

Hello,
I have two credit cards (Capital One and Vanquis) that I haven't used in over 3 years. As I owe money to both of them I was wondering if it's possible to still claim PPI?
Thank you

You can complain about mis-sale. However, if your complaint is upheld, then the redress can go against arrears, defaults and amounts written off (even if settled). So, you must under no circumstances use a claims company.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Hi folks, I'm in a similar situation and thought I'd jump into this thread for some advice. I've spent all morning reading threads and advice, my head hurts.
In 2002/4 I had a credit card with Vanquis. I did an online enquiry with a website (turned out to be Hidenda) and they said I was potentially owed £800. I'm not pursuing their nonsense though.
I called Vanquis this morning and they said they have never sold ppi and I was misinformed but I do remember having the insurance because my job wasn't secure.
I have no paperwork and the person I spoke to was not helpful.
I also had a card with Capital One but stills have paperwork for that.
What would your advice be folks?0 -

The figure is made up. So, you are right to disregard it.What would your advice be folks?
If you didnt have it then you have nothing to complain about. if you believe Vanquis are incorrect then spend £10 and send them a data subject access request.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I was with my bank for many years and along with my husband we had many loans, the older ones always had PPI because we were told we wouldnt get the loan without it. They were always paid off early. We are now in a debt management programme with this bank and no longer have an active account with them. If i went ahead and tried for PPI refund is there any possibility the bank could put an order on our house for any remainder of our debt if we were succesful? What im really asking is would they be funny and punish us for applying? thanks0

They can off set any redress against money you still owe them due to write-offs of interest etc. They won't "punish" you, but you are unlikely to receive anything personally.
This is all detailed already in the thread you posted to..0 -
Hope its ok to post my query on this thread? See above. thanks0
