Young couples Holiday

I have been researching for hours now and have still not found the perfect place. Me and my boyfriend are looking to go away on a cheapish holiday in September but cannot decide where. I am looking for a hot beach holiday with lots to do, bars, restaurants, water sports and night time markets and shopping etc. We went to Koh Samui earlier this year and absolutely loved it so something similar but not so far would be great. We are both mid twenties.

Any ideas would be great!

Barbados or Corfu - done both - prefer Barbados !!
  • Would love to go Barbados but might be a little out of our price range. Have looked at Corfu but a little confused about where might be the best place to stay? Where would be the main touristy part?

Maybe look at Sidari on Corfu.
We've just come back from Parga on the Greek mainland, everything you say you want is there.

Istanbul has loads to do, while there are islands nearby with beaches and restaurants.
  • How about Bodrum?

If you fancy Corfu then the main place for young people is Kavos, but it is very 18-30, lively and full of very drunk brits so perhaps more suited to a holiday with friends rather than a young couple?

Sidari is probably a better option as mentioned above, lots of home comforts still available, but nightlife is decent, beach is great and really easy to get around the island. Other lively-ish resorts that might appeal include Ipsos, Roda, Dassia, Gouves and San Stefanos but it really depends how lively you want it.

Other suggestions would be Hersonissos in Crete (not far from Malia but far enough to not be in the thick of it all), Pefkos / Lindos /Ixia in Rhodes, Santa Eulalia Ibiza (there's a real growing beach club scene here at the minute and the beaches in Ibiza are fab), Bodrum / Gumbet / Icmeler / Hisaronu in Turkey, Mykonos in Greece has a more sophisticated nightlife and Croatia has some fab party resorts too in the summer months but you would have to look into that yourself a bit more I'm afraid.

We went to Malia 2nd week of last September after much soul-searching (we are late 50s/early 60s and were really worried about the party scene) and researching on Tripadvisor.
OH was horrified that I'd even suggested it.

I'd found a great deal to what sounded like fab apartments and I'd read that there is an old town that seemed to have some really good tavernas.

We had a great holiday, although our apartments were maybe 200 yards from the top of the strip, you wouldn't have believed we were in Malia.
One evening we decided to go down the strip for cocktails and it was pretty quiet, although the chucker-in guys were a bit of a hassle.

I wouldn't discount Malia in September - but I'd give it a wide berth throughout July & August.
    OP is going in September.
