I'm a bit dim at abt PCs!!
but this looks like a good deal to me! Is it? Can someone explain if the memory/speed or whatever is good? Or explain what i can do or not do with this PC? I'm thinking of ordering one, with the monitor and 2 years service, comes to £257!
anyone please??

It is a really good deal. The specs are very solid for the average user, and it should be more than adequate for what most home users are likely to need it for - internet/email, office-like applications, viewing/editing photos, watching/burning DVDs. If you regularly use applications which are much more demanding on the PC (the most recent games etc) you're likely to know already what sort of specs you need. I'd say that the weakest link in the machine is the 1gig RAM - that might be worth upgrading later, but you can always see how Vista runs and then buy some more later on (if you want it) for much cheaper than Dell's price to upgrade it.
The only thing is I can't see how you get it to £257 with the monitor - with the standard options it comes out as £270, and the extended warranty you mentioned puts the price up further still.0 -

Thanks for that, sorry meant to say, without the monitor!!0 -
Personally I think the PC becomes slightly less good value (however I word that it doesn't seem to sound right...) with the £70 extra for the 2 year warranty - especially considering it has a 1 year collect and return warranty in any case if something goes wrong.
But then again my Dell's now in its second year and having said that something's bound to go wrong with it...

I am still using millenium. Going straight to Vista would be too much of a shock to the system, so I opted for XP with this offer. (It's on my other PC so I sort of know what I am doing with XP) :j0 -
How do you opt for XP with this offer? Would like to order it for my Mum but as she's a technophobe and I have no experience with Vista, would like it with XP. Just can't figure out how to do it!0

After going via quidco if applicable, jsut search on the dell website for D07C12XP. Don't forget to change the hardware support option for the lower price if thats what you want.
I got over £8 validated via quidco. :j
Hope that helps.0 -

Windows XP was released in September 2001 and any big system builders like Dell adopted it immediately, so if aaroncaz's machine is almost 5 years old it'll almost definately run Windows XP.
My machine is almost 6 years old (purchased in November 2001) and it runs XP
