I have had the above router for some years, supplied by my ISP (Plusnet).
Wifi transfer rate is not good and I get disconnections on occasions.
I only use the web for e-mail/browsing, no streaming or big downloads. Have a rural based connection and achieve bb speeds as expected.
Is the router past its sell by date? In the past it has done its job OK.
What router upgrade should I be looking at?
Cheers for any advice.

I had what sounds like a similar issue with my Thompson router that Plusnet supplied me a few years ago. The wireless network kept dropping out. I rung plusnet when it came to renew last month and advised them that I would only renew if they gave me a new router - which they did. Not sure of the model but it works fine and much smaller than the original ones. They also said if I signed up for 2 years they'd give me broad band at a reduced rate, so I did. Saved £4 per month.0

Plusnet offerd me a replacement router (I have to pay p&p) but I'm not sure if the ISP supplied routers are all that good.
Looking to get something decent for my needs, but not overly expensive.
I too got a decent deal on my 2 year contract when I moved house. Not sure any more though, not happy with the way PN are with their price hikes at the moment.0 -
I changed to a TG582 from ebay for less than a tenner and it is newer (despite the lower model number) and seems more stable.
Many people sell their ISP supplied routers new on ebay so worth a look - make sure you get the ADSL version, not the fibre version (although the very latest ones do both, and the older ones can be flashed with the correct firmware very easily if required.
The current one works for us - 5 users, Netflix, wireless etc and being a PlusNet one was easy to set up and should be fine for your needs.
