Combi Boiler Flue Point Upwards

Good morning,

I've recently had a new combi installed and have just remembered (following the heavy rain last night) that the flue pipe that vents the gas, comes out of the wall then points directly upwards.

Is this an issue with rain potentially getting in?

Thanks for your help!

They are designed so that in normal operation condensate flows back down the flue and out of the pipe at the bottom of the boiler, a little rain will just add to this and is not a problem.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Just heard back from the Engineer who said not a problem, it runs straight through and down the waste pipe apparently.

    Thanks for replying though :)

That would be the condensate pipe, which hopefully is routed so it does not freezing the winter as that can stop the boiler working.

sounds like a plume diversion kit in which case there is unlikely to be a problem although it should still discharge horizontally with an elbow at the top, a proper vertical flue kit will be designed to prevent rain ingress.
