The husband is a railway buff and wants to do this holiday.
Anybody have any experience with this company. Their reviews are either glowing or competing for who had it worst.
Thanx

I've no experience with Leger railway trips but we went with them to see Holland bulb fields and they were excellent. Very knowledgeable couriers, clean comfortable coaches, good hotel; overall it was a very enjoyable holiday.0

We went on this tour (14th to 22nd June 2014) and found it to be one of the best holidays we have had.
It was the first time we had ever been on a coach tour where everything was organised for us so we were very wary, as we like to do as we want and go where we want.
We were picked up and taken to the Channel Tunnel where we joined our Silver Service coach (worth the extra cost). We kept the same seats for the duration of the holiday, which was brilliant.
From there we were taken to our overnight hotel in Belgium. The hotel was excellent, so no complaints there. The following day we started the journey to our main destination. Along the way we had several toilet stops and drinks were served quite regular by one of the crew.
Our stay was at the Sonnschein Hotel which was marvelous. Jill, the owner, was very helpful as were all the staff. The rooms were so clean and well set out with plenty of amenities and the scenery from our balcony was amazing.
Breakfast was served depending on what time you had to leave for the excursions (worth doing them all) and there was plenty of variety to eat. The earliest we had was 6.30am.
The evening meals were lovely (3 courses) and filled you up. Our party of 4 can be picky at times but we enjoyed them all.
The bar area is cozy and very relaxing. Prices were as you would expect in Europe but not over the top.
The excursions were great value. We took them all. Our crew (Stuart & Ralph) dropped us off as near as possible to each one and collected our tickets for the trains, cable cars, etc, so no queuing involved. Places were reserved on the trains for us so no rushing to get a seat - Stuart swiftly removed someone on one of our reserved seats on one trip.
The steam trains were amazing to see and travel on. Though not comfortable (on wooden seats) the views soon made you forget.
Overall a wonderful experience and plenty of time to look around.
On some of the trips we stopped at various towns where we were given plenty of time to eat, drink and be merry. Our crew always pointed us in the right direction so we would not get lost. They were very professional and knowledgeable and we always felt safe and secure with them.
While traveling, they told us about the region or country we were going through and served drinks every hour or so.
Overall, we loved it and are now looking at another trip with Leger.
Maybe we were lucky with the crew as that can make of break a holiday but at no time did we feel like cattle.
We usually get stressed out on holiday but this is the first one that we actually came back relaxed and at ease.
Our party of 4 were of various ages (55, 51, 60, 26) and I was the only male but we all found it most enjoyable.
I hope you find this review useful and, should you decide to go, I hope it turns out as good as our trip. :beer:1 -
What time did you arrive back in the UK? Which hotel was used in Brussels, are you in the city centre or out in the suburbs?0

We have been on a couple of their Battlefield tours and can't fault their service. The tour guides are very knowledgable and the coach drivers were great too.
We are hoping to go on another tour in 2015 and will again use Leger.0 -
Has anyone travelled with Alfa Travel?0

For our outward overnight stay we arrived at the Novotel Leuven Centrum in Belgium at about 7pm local time. The town centre is about a 10 minute walk, but we did not go there. Looking on Google, there seemed to be a few bars and restaurants there though.
Arrival at the Sonnschein (our main stay for the holiday) was about 7pm on the second day.
On the return trip we arrived back at the Novotel Leuven Centrum for our overnight stay at about 8pm.
I seem to remember that we arrived back at the Calais interchange at about 2pm and was on our feeder coach at about 3pm.
Nearer the time of the holiday we received a full list of the itinerary.0 -
This was the itinerary for our particular journey:
Day 1: Traveled to our overnight stay at the Novotel Leuven Centrum in Belgium
Day 2: Journey to our main hotel
Day 3: Journey through the Ziller Valley from Fugen to Mayrhofen (including a trip on the steam railway).
Day 4: Optional excursion to Salzkammergut (Austrian Lake district), stopping at St Gilgen which included a cruise on the St Wolfgangsee river/lake arriving at St Wolfgang to join the cog railway up the Schafberg mountain.
Day 5: Optional excursion to Innsbruck to wander around and shop. For an extra fee you can travel on the Nordkettenbahnen up to the Hungerburg mountain station to get on a cable car to the Seegrube restaurant at the top of the mountain (2 course lunch included).
Day 6: Excursion to Kitzbuhel to look around the town (resort of the rich & famous). You can take a cable car up the Hahnenkamm Mountain but it is not included in the excursion.
From there you travel over the Thurn Pass to Mittersill to board the Pinzgau train to Krimml, then taking the coach to Zell-am-See.
Day 7: Excursion to Lake Achensee where (for an extra payment) you can cruise the lake and (again for an extra payment) you can travel on the rack and pinion railway.
Day 8: Return journey to our overnight stay in Belgium
Day 9: Return travel back to the UK. We stopped at a Belgium chocolate factory after leaving the hotel which was amazing.
As I said, this was the list at the time that we traveled. Whether Leger changes this around, I don't know, but all of the excursions were good value and we were well looked after throughout.1 -
Has anyone done any Euro trips on Leger Exec coaches and if so,what sort of standard are they? tnxFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Novo in the 'burbs of Brussels. You really only had time to eat and sleep there.
Got back to the UK around 4pm. The worst part was the trip from Dover into London. Traffic was bad.
The Silver Service coaches were clean, comfortable and overall we had a great mix of people on the coach.
Ferry used not chunnel.
Was truly amazed at the number of frail, elderly there were on a couple of coaches on the ferry. But there were some younger (around 25s) on the coaches going to Prague.
Rest stops on the continent were well planned.
I'd do another one0
