    Glad I noticed this thread.
I've had similar phone calls over the last 2 weeks, using different numbers & 2-3 times over the last couple of days.
Funny thing is they asked to speak to *my mum's name* and as far as I am aware the only company my mum used my mobile number for (because hers was broken at the time) was a popular home shopping company!
Quite possibly somebody from there selling/sharing details yet not sure how that could be proven.
Thanks to all who post comps! :A

I get loads of these, at least 5 different companies over the course of a week but never more than one or two calls a day luckily! It's infuriating. When they call from a number, rather than Withheld or Unknown, I save the number to my phone as "Claims - Don't Answer" or something similar. Saves me bothering to answer them again!

Two years ago, a [strike]moron[strike] driver at the petrol pump in front of my husband reversed instead of driving off and hit our car at roughly 2mph, but his tow bar smashed a chunk out of our plastic bumper trim.
By sheer coincidence, my OH had been on his way to the car insurance office to renew his premium, and he mentioned it to them.
He DIDN'T claim as the excess made it not worth it, but since then he has had well over 1,000 calls from insurance claim firms, offering him compensation for his "injuries", most suggesting he lies about the outcome for the sake of a couple of grand compensation - at one point he was receiving over 10 a day, and he still gets at least three every single day - even at Christmas - sometimes up to 9pm.
Although we could desperately do with some cash, he refuses to commit fraud to get it.
We have tried the TPS but they are not classed as "sales" calls so now his most successful tactic is to be bloody rude to them, tell them he is not prepared to lie just to line their pockets and in turn increase everyone else's premiums.
It SEEMS to be working, as they are slowly tailing off. He had one yesterday from a mobile number on Jersey. That sounded especially legit, that one....
    It's an absolute NIGHTMARE.
Our only saving grace is that we appreciate we don't have to be the ones making those calls for a living. That must be soul-destroying....
