TV Channel possible default

Question:

I subscribed to a TV channel around Christmas time for a year. I was under the impression I was paying the subscription every month. Lost card round same time which I assume now stopped the money coming out - didn't think it would affect it then (didn't give it any thought).

At the start of June I was contacted by the company to say that I hadn't been paying and that they wanted the money. Fine by me. Co operated with them at every step and even this week emails were exchanged agreeing on a settlement figure or way to pay.

Today I received an email to say 'On the 14th of June 2014 the viewing was suspended due to the outstanding balance. The account subsequently defaulted and the balance for the remainder of the contracted period was added to the account, there is now £245.80 outstanding. We are willing to accept a settlement figure of £125.00 and the services will remain switched off.'

I called them and their customer service don't seem to know whether I have actually had a default registered to my credit file. They told me it has been passed to BPO Collections company. I called them and they don't seem to know who I am...yet (as one only asssumes my details are in transit) and are none the wiser whether I will have a default issued to the account.

Can anyone on here shed any light?

Issue a SAR to both companies to evidence the default notice.
  • What's a SAR?

Thanks for reply. Really in the dark as to whether they've issued a default to my credit file or are just saying I have defaulted as in not paid.

If you haven't paid then you have defaulted, however they should have issued you a default notice.

A SAR is a subject access request, you pay £10 for each SAR and the company sends you all information, correspondence etc that they hold on you.

ive never seen sky add a default or even report to a credit agency.. im not sure with virgin.. its unlikely you have a black mark from this..

it just means you have "defaulted" on your payments to them.. pay the £125 and thats that as they say.. or you can request your files from all 3 cra's and see whats on there..
