Hollister Co - £9 Shipping Charge!?

Hi guys,

I recently decided to order a hoodie online from Hollister as i seen a discount code online. I was delighted when the item arrived but unfortunately was too big. I quickly found the return label and the instructions but am appalled to notice the tiny print that says i will be charged £9 for this return!

Surely this can't be normal practice as the shipping to me was free and they're still advertising free shipping on their site. The return and postage address looks to be based in Holland.

Anyone got any advice on how to proceed? Really fee like im being stung here as you cant even return on exchange in-store.

Even if your purchase was from a UK company, it is very likely that you would be responsible for the cost of the return shipping for a 'non-faulty' return.

You may need to research Dutch law... although it may be very similar.

Whenever buying online always check the returns policy

    Hollisters is quite clear

    a lesson learnt maybe

    IMPORTANT RETURN INFORMATION

    • We refund any merchandise in resalable condition with a copy of your original invoice to the original payment method if returned to us.
    • Merchandise must be returned in its original individual packaging where applicable (e.g. fragrance, shoe, or accessory boxes, etc.).
    • You can use the Return Label that was provided with your purchase, there is a 9.00 GBP charge to use this service that will be deducted from your refund.
    • If you choose to use your own carrier you will be responsible for return shipping costs.
    • Returns and exchanges cannot be processed at stores.

Sorry, but the charge is clearly stated on their site

    http://www.hollisterco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CustomerService?textKey=HELP_RETURNSANDEXCHANGES&catalogId=11558&langId=-1&pageName=returns-exchanges&storeId=19659

If you bought it at a discount you might get more money by reselling on eBay rather than paying the return cost.

It's free shipping to you, not back to them. Either pay it yourself or use their service. They have done nothing wrong and aren't breaking any laws.

You can send it yourself if it's cheaper, but if it gets lost it's your responsibility
