Capita cheque missing in post.

I sold some SSE paper shares and Standard Life electronically held on 7th July through Capita Asset Services.

The cheques for the share sales were supposedly posted last Friday.

SSE cheque arrived Monday. No sign of cheque for SL shares.

I phoned Capita and was told if the cheque was missing I would have to pay them£16 to get the cheque reissued or about £25 if I wanted the money transferred to a bank account.

Capita Supervisor told me they would not waive the £16 fee as it was the post office who lost the cheque as their bank charges them and also they have to manually process a second cheque. Hence the £16 fee.

Who can I complain to about this ridiculous situation as I am now losing interest on money that has never arrived from Capita and they want £16 after already charged me for this trade.

After asking to speak with supervisor and threatening to get on to Standard Life CEO, etc, phone call back from Capita saying if cheque does not turn up, they will waive the fee for re-issuing the cheque.

Not unusual. I've known first class post to take up to 12 days.
