Cancelling PPI management company

7 months ago I foolishly went through a PPI claims management company to look into any Mis-sold insurance, I filled in forms and let them get on with it. Recently got a standard letter from bank & a phone call from CMC saying bank had voided my initial claim form and would have to sign and date a new one plus sign a form for another mis-sold PPI. My question is if the original form wasn't valid can I now instruct CMC to no longer proceed with claim and pursue it myself direct with bank?? Would really appreciate any advice and hope I've explained properly.

Why was the original form voided?0

Wasn't told. Spoke to bank & told the part that gives them authority to represent me was not filled out properly and so voided. Bank also recommended I cancel and pursue on my own. You can prob see where this is going, if successfull do I still owe CMC 30%0

You'll have to check the terms of the legally binding contract you signed, but if the Claims Company sent the complaint on your behalf,I can't see them allowing you to cancel the contract on a "technicality" even if it's their fault the form wasn't filled in correctly.Olliedog75 wrote: »if successfull do I still owe CMC 30%0 -
Hmmm that's what I was worried about. Have actually phoned to cancel which guy put on file. Not heard anything back YET!!0

If they hadn't populated the letter of authority correctly the chances are that they won't have performed their obligations under the contract and as such it has been breeched. What claims management company is it?0

Gladstone Brooke's.0

When you say you got a standard letter from the bank, what did it say?
Also what form did GB say was voided? The claim form or letter of authority for GB to act on your behalf with the bank?0 -
Letter from bank read: received letter from CMC called Gladstone re PPI on loan. If you want Gladstone to represent you plse confirm in writing. We've written to Gladstone confirming this information. Any other queries/ we are now gathering documentation etc.
GB said resigning form was a stalling tactic by the bank and that banks generally had become very unhelpful/awkward.
I thought best to speak to lloyds to get more info and they told me letter of authority had been void. How I'm not sure.0 -
If after 7 months they are not capable of even being in a position where they can represent you in making a claim it is not unreasonable for you to cancel the contract without risk of any charge.
As they don't have the authority to manage your claim they cannot charge a success fee for doing so if you make a successful claim yourself.0 -
Thanks for your advice. Much appreciated. Do you think I should pursue GB to get confirmation of cancellation, or let process with lloyds run it's course??0
