    Hi inside insurance

    "Contents insurance also has public liability cover but this is more general personal liability cover and so will cover most of your private activity in and outside of your home"

    Thats interesting, can you give me one mainstream company that would provide this level of cover. I study the small print but I cannot see this at all. Many Thanks for all the replies

    Try looking under the heading of "Personal Liability"

    As above, because it also covers you as an employer of domestic staff and possibly to help distinguish between the buildings section cover they tend to call it other things like Personal Liability as Dacouch says

    Hi rs65 & Insideinsurance, forgive me but I'm still a bit confused.
    In my original post I wrote "I know that generally home insurance does cover liability at the insured persons home but does anyone know if it is possible to have general public liability insurance that covers accidents, injury, damage etc no matter when and where it occurs."

    In the page 15 you refer to "Occupier’s and Personal Liabilities"
    We will pay all amounts you become legally liable to pay as damages in your
    capacity as occupier of your home, or for any other reason, as a result of:
    a) accidental death of or bodily injury to any person;
    b) accidental loss of or damage to property,

    Surely this means it has to be within your own home as it says "within capacity as occupier of your home"
    Many Thanks

    Thanks rs65

    I've got that. It's just worded a bit strange "as occupier of your home, or for any other reason"

    To answer the bold aspect, no. Home insurance will have limits on it. So for example the Aviva policy excludes if you are living abroad, in connection with another home that you own and isnt covered by this policy, when you are in charge of a motorised road vehicle, boats (exc human powered and toy), plane (exc toy) or caravan, or claims arising from your dangerous dog as defined by the dangerous dogs act and finally when your doing your job. Plus as before, you giving an infection to someone else.

    Motorised vehicle and caravan (whilst towing it) would obv be covered by your Motor insurance so thats fine. Your other home should be covered by another home policy. Your employer EL and PL insurance will cover you whilst your working. If you live abroad then you should have local insurance. Pet insurance may cover your dog, though they may have a dangerous dog exclusion too. Only really leaves boats, planes and you giving others your cold or an STI
