Insurance Claim on Loan was rejected at the time - can I still reclaim the PPI?

Hi I had a loan about 10 years ago and while I was paying it off I lost my job. I put in for a claim on the insurance but for reasons I can't remember, the claim was rejected.

I was very down about losing my job & the rejected claim didn't help so I didn't appeal & left it at that.

I have since paid off the loan in full but I am wondering if the rejected insurance claim will affect me re-claiming the PPI I paid on the loan?

If anything, a rejected claim on the insurance helps not hinders a mis-selling complaint.

I'm not sure it was even possible for you to "appeal" when the insurance would not pay out, but you'll need to know exactly why the claim failed.

No point complaining that there was no payout if you simply didn't sign on for unemployment benefit or weren't unemployed for long enough to qualify.

However, if the insurance would never have paid out (because you were self-employed or had a pre-existing medical condition for example) then these are the kind of reasons which indicate the insurance was mis-sold.
