BT !!!!!!s

I'm thrilled yet again with moneysavingexpert.com.
after years with BT as a loyal customer, the link where you ask for your MAC code as a 'threat' to leave worked a treat.
Previous monthly DD of £51.50 INSTANTLY reduced to £33.99

When will companies start to reward loyalty instead of penalising lethargy?

I'm still with BT for both landline and unlimited broadband and my monthly bill is considerably lower than your £33.99
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • I was out of contract with BT and Sky. I contacted both and had them fighting to keep my business. BT won hands down!
Sky retainment manager contacted me and said his team should have matched BT's offer but would like to contact me next year to negotiate again....Result and saving £24 a month with super fast BB!
  • Always had great service from BT and would never change from them but it was expensive out of contract. Phoning them for a deal yielded very little but requesting the MAC code produced this...

Thank you for your e-mail. Please accept my apologies for the delay.

I’ve looked at your BT account and I can see that you’re a loyal and longstanding BT customer and we’d really like you to stay with us.

For this reason I can reduce your broadband package price from £27.14 per month down to £6.65 per month.

The new price is based on a new 12 month contract and includes:

    Unlimited Broadband usage
Weekend Calls to all UK land lines and 0845 & 0870 numbers for up to 1 hour at a time
Unlimited Wi-fi access to more than 5 million wireless hotspots around the UK
2GB of online storage with BT Cloud
    Free 24 hour Technical Help
Free BT Sport worth £12 per month.

If you would like to upgrade your calls you can add Evening & Weekend Calls for £2 per month or Anytime Calls with 50% off mobiles for £5 per month.

Line Rental is £15.99 per month but you also have the option of saving a further £32.04 for the year by paying £159.84 for 12 months Line Rental in advance which brings the cost down from £15.99 to £13.32 per month.

PS I added on anytime calls for £5, also got BT Privacy with Caller Display free for 12 months and line rental saver.

What with living in the sticks this is by far the cheapest available to me.

    Cheers

Why would they do that? The 'penalisation' is self-inflicted by those who can't be bothered to negotiate or switch, and so end up paying the rack rate.
As the legacy provider, BT have a huge percentage of customers who have never switched (wild guess-maybe up to 50% of their customer base?). Those customers are their cash cow, and unlikely ever to switch, so why would you offer them loyalty discounts?

Exactly. People who switch often are in a minority and these are the only customers suppliers have to chase.
