Can you recommend the top 3-5 HPI checking services online,
When I mean HPI service, I mean companies advertised online to do HPI checks.
Which you have preferably used previously, and what details did it show about the car?
What are their prices ? are they a one off payment? or subscription monthly ?
and if you pay £x for it, does it allow you just to check 1 car? or you can check many cars with that on a payment ?
(if you are considering a few cars to buy, can you check 2-3 with the 1 purchase of the HPI check ? )
Do DVLA Provide a hpi checking service ?
What pitfalls should be avoided when using a HPI Company?
are the RAC Checks HPI checks ? or RAC have their own version ?

The fact you're referring to them as 'HPI' companies should tell you something.
Use HPI. Don't bother wasting your money on anything else. Quick, reasonable price, reliable, very comprehensive.0 -
Or alternatively.
No, not really, just use HPI.0 -

But there are many sites with similar names, or are they just wannabee companies? copying HPI but don't have accurate info?BeenThroughItAll wrote: »Use HPI.
so HPI is a 'specific' check?
done by a specfic company, or Dvla linked ?0 -

HPI, RAC and the AA.
Some companies call it a check not an HPI. They may not be as accurate. Some of the car mags tested them a while back and only those 3 gave accurate results for the cars tested.
Some were written off, Some had finance owing. The cheap checks failed on one or both.
You may as well flip a coin instead of using a cheaper alternative.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Https://www.carcheckuk.co.uk is a good one. They include a logbook check and full vin check which some don't. They do offer 2 and five checks like you asked for £2.99. They use use official data so should be accurate too.0

from their FAQ
Do you guarantee my car check results?
We only use registration data from official UK providers including the DVLA, Experian, Association of British Insurers and the Police unlike other so called cheap car history check providers and we do our very best to ensure that the data we provide you with is correct however we do also offer a data guarantee for that extra peace of mind subject to our terms and conditions. We use much of the same history data as other far more expensive services and provide some data that other more providers don't.
So all they guarantee is they will pass on the information they get. If that is wrong, tough.
I would stick with HPI who do actually guarantee their results.0 -
