Emigrating to the UK - build credit record fast

Hi Guys,
myself and my fiancee are moving to the UK, we are not out to take out any loans but i understand alot of rental agents do a credit search, what is the easiest way to build a credit footprint in the UK upon arrival, I have set up a northern ireland bank account (sterling) and have it registered to friends address where I will be staying initially, that gives me a letterhead id as such upon arrival
any other suggestions
