Energy company swapping Day & Night rates

Hi,

To cut a longish story short, I got a new electric meter in January 2014 as my old one was not using the "night rate" correctly and was on all the time. Therefore I was getting heating storing up all day.

However, this got changed, and everything was seemingly fine, until I got a statement where Co-op Energy had "swapped" my day and night rates I had given them. This is obviously in their favour as I use more night units than day units even in the summer.

When I ring them up, thet don't ever give me a reason why this is happening, they just have gotten me to take pictures of the meters, do a "kettle test", take readings throughout the day, but nothing is getting done to get these readings "swapped back".

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem in the past. It has been going on for about 7-8 weeks since I realised and its becoming very annoying! Its seems to me they don't believe that Rate 1 is the night units and Rate 2 is the day units.

Thanks in advance for any help!

WRITE a LETTER headed COMPLAINT detailing your case and what you expect them to do and send it with proof of postage. If they have not successfully resolved the situation in 8 weeks you escalate to the ombudsman. Phoning does no good, the telephone operators of these broken unfit for purpose energy companies have little knowledge and no inclination or authority to question or override what the computer thinks
