I would be so grateful if some kind person would help me decide which would be the best tariff for me to move to when my current tariff ends on the 31st August. I am going dizzy trying to compare. I pay by direct debit never missing a payment, and at the moment they owe ME £300!!

I am presently with Scottish Power, No Standing charge, dual fuel, paying £70 (barstewards!) a month.

My Gas consumption is: 6.999kwh per annum.

Electricity 1115 kwh per annum.

Yes, I am a low user. I also get Warm Front payment.

You only need to put your annual usage in kWh (which you obviously know) plus your location into a comparison site, such as uswitch and you'll see who they suggest. Don't just jump at the cheapest though, also look at the suppliers themselves and see if they have any good feedback.
You'll also have to consider if you want a fixed rate for a period of time, or are comfortable going with a variable one.
It's not just a simple decision unfortunately...

I would agree that price isn't the only consideration, check customer satisfaction as well.

My experience; I deal with three electricity companies:

Hopeless Energy aka Opus, who don't know the meaning of the term fixed rate (it's gone up twice in the fixed term!!!)
Suspect Scams Energy aka SSE (who make written promises and then break them)
    and
OVO Energy who are fantastic and would pay you 3% tax free on your £300 balance or return it to you if you prefer.

Just my experience but I can't praise OVO highly enough, they do understand customer service.

    Good luck switching.

No, you will not the receive the best advice - they will not tell you about single fuel deals and they will not inform you of the best cashback rates.

Yes, it can be a useful tool and will provide an okay service but it is not the best advice.

I second that. They never told me when my current contract was ending, although they did tell me just yesterday that I was no longer on the cheapest tariff (it's ended!) I've never bothered updating my details on there and have seen from other posts that people are having problems with Cheap Energy Club.

I could have got slightly cheaper rates by going for separate utility suppliers, but didn't really want the hassle for a verysmall financial gain. I actually switched to Ovo and got cashback by going through Quidco and uSwitch. Could possibly have got a bit more by other cashback means, but they are ones I've used in the past with no problems. Seems to be OK with Ovo so far. I went for a 1 year fix to see how I get on with them. Very competitive rate. The 3% interest sounded very attractive, although when you read the details, you will get it as credit to your account if you maintain a credit balance above your monthly DD, and if you request a refund, you get it minus any interest they've paid into your account...

Since prices vary by region, no one can tell you rhe cheapest deal without knowing the region. You already have the kWh figures, so put them int any accredited comp site with your postcode and you will have the answer. Takes less than a minute.

Thank you Macman, my region is Devon........
I have been onto to a few comparison sites, but I find them so confusing!
First Utility seem to come out the best, but I was with them before and their customer service was horrendous! oh dear, what a quandary

Uswitch has the least confusing layout in my opinion. That's the one I go to if I want to do a really quick check. They also remember my details from before so I only have to press one button.

I'm sure you are very helpful and this is just a slip up, but your post reads like touting for business which your signature says you are not allowed to do. ;)
