Graduate Student Card

in Credit cards
Hello,
I need some advice with regards to setting up my first credit card.
I recently graduated in Medicine and will be starting work at the start of August. However, I require my deposit and first-month rent and living costs, for when I move to the town of my new work.
However, I have run out of money so am looking to use a credit card to give me the £300+ in order to pay the above. I am confident I will be able to pay it off very quickly.
I went to my normal bank today, but because I am not currently working my request was rejected. Their only suggestion (halifax) was to try and arrange a credit card, and again they would not approve me for one themselves!!
Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't think I can source money from elsewhere.

Do you have a graduate current account with an overdraft?0

You could try applying for a credit card with your own bank. Assuming you have run your current account well you should have a better chance with them than other lenders. However, as you're not in employment it might not work out well and you have missed the boat for applying for student credit cards.
You may also want to look into a graduate loan. http://moneyfacts.co.uk/guides/students/graduate-loans--unsure-of-how-the-fund-the-next-step/
I don't see one advertised on Halifax's website but other banks offer them, for example TSB: http://www.tsb.co.uk/loans/graduate_loan.asp#tab1
To get a graduate loan you would have to move your graduate current account as that is a requirement to get the loan. Might be worth phoning the bank you choose or popping into a branch.
Edit: An even better loan would be from Bank of Mum and Dad... is that an option?0
