They must be hiding something. If you are all this far into the process and they are been stubborn like this.

I know when you find your dream home you dont want to turn your back on it. We found ours, last year, and we now live in it. I would have had difficulty walking away, but let your head rule your heart.
  • I think everyone giving this advice is being really helpful, thank you.

I think I am too in love with the property to see that things aren't going as well as we hoped they would.

We have just discussed this all day and have said we are going to say either intrusive survey or we walk away. But if I'm honest they've made us feel so uneasy about the whole thing now.
  • just one quick question...

if we decide not to proceed, is it possible to transfer our mortgage offer on to a different house even if the cost is different?

we've had a look at a couple online and there's two we think we might go and see and these are cheaper than the one we're currently buying. it is upsetting (I was going to say destroying but that seems much too strong) us to think we're gonna have to pull out.

Try not to get too upset. I was when i had to pull out of 2 separate purchases for different reasons to do with the property but the final place which I got was better than both of them.
Can't advise you re. your mortgage offer but contact the lender about it.
  • thanks kate :)

unfortunately just nothing is comparing to our first property - it's quirky, it's a bit weird and it just stinks of character and tradition. everything else is so modern and just not us...

we are refusing to rent again though so we're buying something
