dont leave it too long, as you need to , officially anyway, notify your insurer. A few days, maybe a week you could justify as saying, it slipped my mind whilst i was getting prices.

Longer and it could be an issue, if you then use them to make a claim.

£430 isnt too bad, but as you say some people dont know the costs at all. I would expect her to ask some friends, who would say thats far too much. Get her insurance details asap, the threat is sometimes enough.

That's a common one as well. "Mrs Pennyapple down the road told me that a 40cm scratch would only cost £20 in her son Bryan's garage back in 1972".

Yeah, well this is the price, either pay it go insurance. Two very simple options really.

I would go straight to her insurers and stop fannying about. Your being very patient for someone who hasn't done anything wrong.

You should also inform you own insurance company for information only.. Failure to do this could invalidate
any claim I the future. They will want her reg number too. And if she doesn't tell her insurance company, whether she claims or not, The reg number will pop up possibly on a later claim and she will be in it.... deep
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Hello, this weekend while my car was parked on my street someone has scraped along the side of it with their car. The back corner is very scuffed and there is a thick scratch about 40 cm long up the side of the car which is also indented.
I came out and saw this not long after it happened and the lady was still in the street and apologised and gave me her name and mobile number. She also tried to make out it wasn't that bad and should come out with a bit of T-Cut.
What should happen in this situation as I have never had anything like this happen to me before?
I have taken the car to the garage and they have given me a quote to repair the damage which I have sent a copy of to her. I have texted her and she has replied but hasn't said much. She has now said she will sort it out soon and I haven't heard anything since. What should I do next as I am unsure where I stand in this situation or what I should be asking her to do.
The only info I have on her is her name, mobile number and email address. I forgot to take her car reg at the time.

    Many thanks!

If you have that in a text reply - save it - download it and print it, and all your texts too.

Go get her reg number too.

OP only has her "name, mobile number and email address" as per their post - so not sure how he's going to get the reg no. or insurance details if she doesn't offer the information willingly.

Oops - sorry - yes - I missed that it was her e-mail address that the OP had.

You need her reg number ASAP. Failing that, you could google her number and her email address to see if this brings anything up - search her email addy on FB ;-)

Agreed. You need to act fast and do a bit of private investigation :rotfl: I didn't realize you didn't have her home address. You really should have got this before, at least. If you have her name and number, that's a good start, and her number as well, great. I would consider looking her up in the phone book, failing that, using something like 192.com and trying get some info about this woman. Her address would be very useful. Facebook is also a powerful tool as said. She might have a photo of her house, or even her car, that you can then go off.

    Don't wait around too long.

Thanks for all your advice guys. I've now asked her outright for her insurance details and not long after was contacted by her insurance company so looks like it's all getting sorted, hooray!
