Credit checks don't show up instantaneously on your credit reports from the copies you get. It can take weeks.

Ah well, I have the Experian trial... does it make a difference? If I don't see any search in my next Noddle report, then I am gonna complain... just to have the decision reviewed.

If I didn't have that direct debit, I'd have considered closing the account altogether, since I was disappointed by the decision.

I clearly didn't apply for an overdraft, and they specifically state it is subject to a further application, so why decline me based on the fact they're not willing to give me an overdraft? I don't dispute that and they can decide who to lend money to, but I didn't want them to lend me any money. They even sent me leaflets regarding lending and stuff like that with their letter. I didn't ask for an overdraft when applying.

Yep it does. From memory when I was instantly accepted for the clarity. Took about a month for the search to appear and another month after that for the account. I remember it being the same with TESCO and my phone contract.

Depends how the account works cheque books, floor limits etc. could lead to an overdraft. So they may not want you to have a standard account. For whatever reason.
