How far are you wanting to run? Are you a beginner? If so I can recommend c25k or c210k. If you want to just track your run, time, distance and route I suggest mapmyrun. Some of my friends like strava.

  • I usually run around 3 miles, but trying to double this and then over a few months get in to the right state to run a half marathon.
  • I'll take a look at mapmyrun, thanks!

Had a go with mapmyrun, very good! Thanks for the recommendation - It worked with just GPS and seems very responsive. Now all I need to do is improve my running skills..

  • forget an app, do whatever exercise you want!
  • Runkeeper is brilliant. Accurate, great community and a really enthusiastic team of devs.

Basic app is free (and does most things you'd want) then there is some paid option which offers some pretty good extras.

We use Endomondo, it allows you to track different sports as well as just running.

Think most of them are pretty much of a muchness and it boils down to personal preference and which, if any, have any specific tools you require.

I've found Adidas miCoach to be very good.
