Is it dumb to go ahead without seeing inside the property?

Hi
Looking for somewhere local to rent, however the best places are getting snapped up within 24 hours. I've basically got to be out of my current place in 3 weeks and have spotted a place exactly where i want to live, the accomodation is massive and rent within my budget.
I've seen the photo's of the inside of the property and have had a good look around it. The letting agent's have told me I can view it Tuesday, as the current tenants are moving out this weekend.
So basically I've missed out on many decent properties over the last week and I definitely want this place. I'm tempted to just go down there tomorrow and ask to put a deposit on it now.
Has anyone ever done this before and also, do you think the Letting Agents would let me do this?
Sorry this post is long!

I've never rented but I don't think what you are suggesting is too silly. In a competitive market you need to take risks to get what you want. Worst case scenario is you live in the place for six months. Best case, you live there as long as you want.
Go for it.

god whereabouts are you where you cant find somewqhere to rent- are you in a rural area?
Sounds like round your way needs a bit of a - dare i say it- BTL action! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Many moons ago I applied for a flat I'd not bothered viewing as I'd been so tired of the disapointment of never getting lucky with the many previous one's that I had viewed.
There always seemed to be loads of other applicants.
Typically I hit gold with this application & it was with some nervousness that I inspected it for the first time after I got the keys & it was fab. Exceeded all my expectations & I spent 4 happy years there.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
personally i wouldnt. Would you spend thousands on any otherproduct that you hadnt seen

I would be wary. I'm about to move and so my current flat is up for let. The letting agent website details are not at all accurate, I'd hate to think someone would go for it based on the website details without looking round for real. They would move in thinking 'where's my gas central heating, oven and patio doors?' (all mentioned in the details, none present in my flat!!!!)0

Difficult one, especially if you are desperate. What I would suggest is go and view it on Tuesday, if you like the place, go to the letting agents and pay your administration fee directly after viewing the property which should then secure it against any other viewings. Thats how me and my OH done it in May just gone after viewing 5 prior which were awful. Phone the letting agents and ask them if this is a possibility...0 -
The letting agent may not accept the admin fee from you before you have seen the property - we don't accept any applications unless the person has viewed. Once you've viewed, if you do like it, you may be able to give your fee to the accompanied viewer if they show you round, or pay over the phone to the agent.0
