Claiming back Parking Fines

Hi guys, just looking for some advice on my current situation.
I am a student and last year at my rented property I received around 400 pounds in parking fines for parking outside my own house die to never applying for a permit (I know it was very stupid and lazy of me not to apply for one)
Do you think it is worth me trying to claim this money back if I can show proof of tenancy and car ownership and if there's a chance I will get it back?

The fines don't relate to whether your a tennant or not. They relate to the fact you didn't have a permit.

OP - you don't mention if they're council fines or private 'fines' ? That said you have little chance with either."The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis." - Dante Alighieri0 -
If these were private fake fines then it comes down to what's in your rental agreement regarding your right to park, whether it says you must display a permit and so forth.
Your chances of getting your money back from a private parking company are slim, but a money claim against your landlord and/or the management company might have some prospect of success if you have good legal grounds.
Another possibility (if they were private fake fines) is that the parking company might've told lies, misrepresented authority and so on, in which case a money claim on the grounds of deceit might have some prospect of success - but again, you really need to be able to sue a landlord or management company.Je suis Charlie.0 -
Assuming 'outside' means on the public highway, then no, because it doesn't operate retrospectively. You needed a permit at the time you were a resident, and to display that permit on the vehicle. That fact that you were entitled to a permit but didn't bother to apply for one does not entitle you to a refund now.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
