PPI claim

I took a credit card out with Alliance & Leicester ( now Santander ) around 25 years ago with PPI, they were taken over by MBNA September 2001/ March 2003. I received a payment of just over £1000 from MBNA. Santander sent me a letter stating they have searched their records against the information provided and were unable to identify the credit card to which the PPI had been attached. They say if I cannot provide statements, which I can`t, prior to September 2001/March 2003 they cannot complete a full investigation into my complaint. I would be grateful if someone could help me with my problem.

If you can provide them with statements or further evidence, they will be able to investigate further.
Obviously if neither of you have any evidence, then there is nothing either of you can do.0 -
Sounds as if your complaint is over then. Search your archives for old statements.BRADGATE1951 wrote: »They say if I cannot provide statements, which I can`t, prior to September 2001/March 2003 they cannot complete a full investigation into my complaint.0 -
try owl ppi, yes they take 25% but they do everything for you. They are great and do the lot all you do is give them who you had it with. If they get it and you get something back its better than NOTHING surely !!0

PPI companies cannot do anything you cannot do.
PPI companies cannot magic up non-existent paperwork
PPI companies cannot prove things without evidence
If there is evidence PPI was missold you can claim it yourself and keep everything
Also, Owl charge 27.5% plus VAT (in their Ts & Cs) - so 33% not 25% (based on their quoted example of a £3000 refund = you pay them £990)
Of course, you also get charged even if you receive nothing due to arrears or write offs)Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Hi I am in same boat...referred claim to FOS over two years ago as although I have current account details showing payment to cc I can not find my cc statements.
after ringing FOS and being told all wrong information I eventually got to speak to someone in charge and basically Santander have admitted misselling of ppi in my case but as they have no proof and I have none we are kind of stuck
FOS have advised that they have a few cases like this and it is being worked on at a senior level to negotiate with Santander to find a solution to benefit all parties
not holding up much hope but at least FOS are trying to help0
