Thanks for the help. Well I was worried about the write off value being lost as I read on axis site that they wrote they don't give a total loss on the pre market value but condition ? Also writing a letter now will it really do any good seeing as the council are telling me to deal with insurance? And what should I say to Zurich if they say they have to do everything though my car insurance axa? Just it Means I'll be without a car for further. Right now my car is running ok but I've noticed since it happened my engine keeps cutting out on occasion so I'm not sure of when he hit it in such a big van it maybe knocked something from the engine..0

Hi just an update and reply to what was said above. My worry is that due to my cars age that the insurance will write it off. I went into the council office as I'd rather Zurich paid me directly and the council have asked me to get another quote so I've done that. In terms of Zurich I wanted to know are they allowed to pay me directly of how will it work?0

Do you mean pay you for the repairs rather than dealing with the garage? You would have a negotiate with Zurich - but why would you want it? They'll probably expect you to pay for the repairs then send them the invoice. What if the repairs end up more expensive than the authorized repair cost?
Don't be scared of it getting written off - if it now has engine problems that may not be a bad thing. Zurich will make you an offer and you can check it against autotrader or parkers.0 -
I'd rather Zurich pay me yes of pay the garage: if they want me to use their authorised dealer that would be find with me but I'd need a courtesy car. But am worried with my car being being valued 1000 pounds and the repairs 700 that they write the car off ANC give me some rubbish valuation. I looked on Parker's and they said the cars worth 845 at private value.0

You shouldn't be disadvantaged. They either repair it or give you enough money to replace it.0
