Cat pooing in outdoor area where toddler plays

Pl I need some advice, the cat is pooing in the outside play area where my grandson plays. I do not feel it is safe to let him play as he is under 2 and get his hands into everything even after I have cleaned the area. The cat has even pooed on my husband's trainers after he left it on the patio. I feel quite annoyed as nobody can enjoy the back garden due to the cat. Thanks

Is it your cat? Did you have a question?

No, it is not my cat, it is the neighbours cat.

If it's not your cat, I'd just spray it with water next time it goes to do a poo and repeat until it gets the message. You can get cat repellent sprays/powder/crystals but I haven't found them very effective (my cat literally rolled around on some of them!).

You can get motion detecting water sprays that go off automatically if you don't want to sit and wait. Just remember to turn it off before you go in the garden!

I wouldn't worry too much about the kid and his hands though. Or do, but then you would also need to worry about rat and mouse poo :D

We've found lemon and orange oils and cayenne pepper sprinkled around have helped massively.

Citrus peel (e.g. orange, lemon or grapefruit) shredded up is fairly cheap if you eat the fruit first!
If it's a big problem, and if there are no plants/grass nearby, try Jeyes fluid (but check whether it's safe for kiddies before you use this please)

Basically anything which smells strong. If you can find cheap black pepper, that also works, but again it depends on how hands-on your toddler would get with it?
Whoops there goes another year, there goes another pint of
