Credit file closed account query

3 months ago I finished settling an old debt I was unaware of but was on my credit file. I set up monthly payments and it shows up as 'satisfied' BUT the following months after that it has default beside the months. Is this normal or are they still trying to collect something that isn't there?. No money has been taken from my account.
Also I have been using a mastercard cash plus card with the credit builder loan and have also borrowed from it on iadvance in promise of showing on credit files that you have made payments up to date,therefore giving you better credit but it's not showing up on my report. Is the card just a scam to get £5 a month from people?.
