You will be sanctioned if you leave without good reason, not having much to do is not a good reason. Why not find a more suitable role and then ask the Jobcentre/ WP provider about changing?0

When you find that there is 'nothing to do' do you ask your manager/supervisor if there is anything that you could be doing, or anything they want some help with?0 -
There is always something to do in a shop, if there isn't any stock to put out, find a bucket and clean some shelves, tills etc, you could face up, find a brush and sweep the floor.
If you wish you can find work experience and then present it to the job centre who can then decide if it is suitable or not.
If you had a job and occasionally there was nothing to do would you walk out?0 -
You will not get sanctioned for leaving a work experince, mandatory work activity yes but work experience no.
As others have suggested try speaking to your superviser see if there areother duties, look for things to do. If you really hate it go back to your adviser and ask.0 -

While in principle, you may not be sanctioned (MAKE VERY SURE OF THIS FIRST), you do not want to get onto the advisers radar as someone that doesn't comply with suggestions.
This can come back to bite you down the line.
Find alternative work experience you can do, or see if you can get more interesting stuff to do at the existing one.0 -
Just enjoy the fact that you have little to do. As you are only getting paid benefits to do a job that should be done by a paid employee, do not go looking for things to do.
Oh, and btw, Boycottworkfare.org would be interested in a testimony regarding the Range's participation in the scheme as it adds weight to their campaign.Never Knowingly Understood.

I agree with this in principle, but would just make the comment that being busy would make your day go faster.0 -
Maybe the government hope that by making people do a mandatory six months work experience, it might hurry them up to get a proper job of their own accord rather than work for the peanuts that is the dole.0

One week in the job (full-time?) and you already have expectation to enjoy yourself with a busy day?
You need to lower your expectations. Starting a new job is never much fun as you find your feet, get to know the people, the rules, the routines.
That and of course the fact that a job is not about enjoying it but about earning a living to be able to support yourself and your family. If you don't like it, look at something else whilst trying to make the best of that job. Quitting after only a week smack of an attitude of 'I can't be bothered'.0 -

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
