http://www.alacook.co.uk/en-gb/dept_149.html they do lots of novelty cutters inc transport (trains) few places do ones like that if you search 'train cutter' but I have yet to find Thomas ones.

My son dislikes them because the filling 'escapes'. Oh and he also will eat certain things in certain places, wouldn't worry about it :rotfl: (he's 8 btw :) ) they'll probably cut crusts off aswell, also the social side/reward side of eating with other kids can help some kids.
One day I might be more organised...........

I've heard other parents say this about their kids at parties - they don't really eat sandwiches at home but are eating like a horse at the party    :D
You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an
"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs :p :rotfl:

my son eats sandwiches fine in nursery and other family members houses but for some reason at home he always dismantles them and just eats the fillings!! tried every brand of bread available, cutting in squares, strips, triangles, think he just enjoys winding me up!!
  • My son has a "picnic" lunch every-other day. he has a bowl with apple, banana and 1 slice of bread cut into 2 sandwiches on a serving tray in the middle of the living room floor. The filling of the day is jam! If he eats all this he can have a sweet treat or crisps. I put these out but do not open until all the sandwich and fruit has gone.
I let him choose what filling he wants from a selection and also what fruit. He has got so much better at eating ever since I got him involved in making the picnic.
Other days we have scambled egg and beans, soup, spagetti hoops and pasta.
Must learn not to count chickens before they are hatched!!!!:D

Every day is a new challenge not a new problem!:p

    SW start 08/01/14 4/21lbs (1st target) :j

If they like taking them apart try a stick in the middle, saying they have to eat it together around the stick. In a word yes, they're probably trying to wind you up/just doing it because they can! Way I see it as long as they eat it I don't mind, but if they start just eating parts then I'll crack down on it. We also do picnics.

I see it as lucky in a way as my oldest son won't eat the other things, nothing on toast, won't even entertain anything wet like beans, spaghetti etc or pasta and rice, unfortunately the theory of 'he'll eat it if he's hungry' doesn't work when you have Autism and just won't touch it at all.
