my son did this to me about 6 months ago, it did not matter how i made the sandwich he took it apart and would not eat the bread.
I am pleased to say he eats most is sandwiches now without any problem.
Things i used to do were
Let him choose a shape for them to be in we have plastic biscuit cutters and ones that come with packet biscuit mix. i would get out half a dozen smaller ones and let him choose, sometimes it was people, just little circles, a rocket shape or crinkly ones but this did help. ( choose small ones use 2 slices of bread and cut out about 6+)
Or we would do a plate with ham , cheese and bits of salad that he would eat with fingers with a jacobs cracker with butter on it. and let him eat it as a picnic on a towel or blanket in the front room while he watched tv as a treat it was soon all eaten.
i would cut a pita bread in half and same with bits of ham, cheese, salad raisins etc mixing things he really liked with a few bits not as keen on ( is why he eats salad now and trys things) would let him fill it up himself.
or i buy those small part baked bread rolls from Mr T so they are all nice and warm and the butter melts and put his fav filler in normally cheese.
and the last thing is cheese on toast.
These all helped for my son hope they give some inspiration for you.Still TryingGrocery challenge July 2016

My little boy loves frittata-fry up some finely chopped potatoes for about 5 minutes and then add whatever veggies they are keen on-red peppers always go down well and then add a little bit more butter and bung in 3 eggs you have beaten with some milk. Cook for about a couple of minutes to cook the bottom and then pop pan under grill to cook the top. This makes enough for DS, DH and me. DS sits there going 'Yum, mmm, yum' (he's 16 months!) He's not keen on sarnies either except egg for some reason! Bread ends up in the dog who hangs around slyly round the highchair!HSBC Visa-High interest-£2349.23 Nat West £2605.18

My just turned 2 year old occasionally turns his nose up at sandwiches - why only today we went to Subway and he picked out every bit of salad, then every bit of cheese then basically ate some bread. I was very pleased I had just bought him a sub. :rotfl:
But I do find for those days at home that a toasted sandwich goes down much better than a normal one - especially when you call it a pizza!0 -
in the past i've found my lot loved(and still do) anything the can put together themselves.put bread/roll/pitta bread on plate and let them add various fillings. tuna, cheese, ham, salad, anything they will eat basically.they also all loved crackers and what they called those crunchy things (bread sticks and ryvita)found it far easier to let them get on with it and eat it all mixed up etc than worrying what they "should" have been eating.but thinking about it for adults nibble type buffet food is often far tastier than eating a sarnie etc.Lead us not into temptation...
just tell us where it is and we'll find it....0 -
My kids loved my version of pigs in blankets which was a slice of bread spread with tomato sauce rolled around a cold sausage. They also liked hm proper sausage rolls, boneless chicken thighs with barbecue sauce to dip. They would never touch soup though and I love it.Jane

My ds doesn't "do" sandwiches - he loves quiche (only shop-bought ones at the mo
) so I want to get into making my own so I can put fresh veggies in it
Also if I give him ketchup or mayonnaise on his plate sometimes he'll eat his bread by dunking it in this as long as I don't do it too often...You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs:rotfl:

My parents took my kids (4 & 2.5) out this week (for the first time without us :j) to an indoor adventure play centre and they had some lunch while they were there.
She ordered a sandwich for herself and the kids (which I wouldn't have done coz my ds would have only eaten the filling  so a waste of money) and my dad had an all-day breakfast coz he'd not had anything to eat that morning.
As soon as my ds saw his grandad's fork he started yelling that he wanted one so they got him one and he ate half of his bread using the fork :T :T :T Since then we give him a fork for his sandwich and he eats most of the bread everytime :j :j :j
When I thought about it I saw one of my friends do this with her son who is much younger than mine so I don't know why I didn't think of it before ???
It may sound odd especially now he eats sandwiches with a fork and tries to eat as much of his cooked dinners with his fingers as he can but who cares if it worksYou should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs:rotfl:

My Dad's friend has ALWAYS eaten everything including sandwiches with a knife and fork, just something he's always done. Worth trying with little ones as sometimes it's the holding it they don't like, some kids are scared by the fact the food is covered up so they can't see what's inside so 'open' sandwiches can help aswell. Just a few things I have come across. One day I might be more organised...........

Thanks all, am going to try all suggestions!
Wouldn't mind so much but when I pick him up from creche, they tell me he eats sarnies there.... Kids eh? particularly like the idea of cutting them into shapes... now, if I could only find shapecutters that resemble Thomas the Tank Engine, I'd be laughing :rotfl: Will try cutting them into pieces for him to eat with a knife and fork, never even occurred to me that he might find eating them difficult the traditional way!!
Thanks again.
