Two Credit Reports with Equifax

Hello,

I have a little query that I'm slightly confused about. Sorry this might take some explaining....

Ok so I must have signed up to Equifax several years ago (old address) but I never got my free credit report.

So recently I signed up to Equifax (current address) to get my free credit report. So I logged into my equifax account created my free report and was shocked to see my report was so out of date it was unreal (with old address). Only had two accounts on file and not being on the Electoral role.

Then later on that day I logged in again as I was going to call and try to resolve the issue. When I logged in it turns out my credit report hadn't been requested yet. So I go through the process and end up with a new report that had everything correct and up to date (current address).

Turns out that I had created two accounts one from years ago and one recently (the different in user names being a full stop).

So the reason for doing so was because I've been recently rejected from opening up a Barclays Current Account (currently bank with them on a cash card) even tho 3 months ago I successfully open a 3k platinum credit card with them. So I was even more confused.

So my question when I apply for credit which of the two reports would they have seen. Or would it of been both? And if so how do they judge on both?

I phoned Equifax and was on the phone for 30 minutes and the lady could still not answer my question above.

Extra info to consider -

I applied for credit always with my current address.

The two set of 'Searches' were often inconsistent. Some being on both, some being on the old one and some the new.

Thanks
Adam

The searches will tell you which information a potential lender would have seen.
If you supplied the potential lender with both your current address and past address on the application then it is likely that they were able to see any information listed in your name at either address with equifax.

It is also quite likely that potential lenders also searched your experians and or callcredit files which presumably have the 2 addresses properly linked.

My guess would be the first report you saw was one created when you registered years ago. You have to request your credit report everytime you log in, It doesn't update automatically. So if you log in again in 3 weeks, the report you would see is todays until you updated it.

People searching for your credit report would see the latest report they have on you.
