im in credit by over £200 to one of the big nrg companies
but they wont let me get this back
their saying its because im on fuel direct, i've tired the dwp, i've tried the nrg company but they both blame each other and im going around in circles,
i've never been in debt to this company and actually requested to be part of the scheme. But i also need this money back as im on a limited income.

What is your annual usage? What does it cost? Three months credit for next winter at £66 per month or if four payments only £50 per month. Not a crazily high credit to have.
Unless you have a very low consumption and have historical statements to back your claim you may have to wait until the end of next winter to demand a refund. But you should be able to negotiate a lower payment. Or come off fuel direct.0 -
hi im only £390 a year on gas and electric, im rarely in, dont cook in house, dont have any gadgets etc and old style tv, so energy usage is really low. so the gas/electric company have over half a years payment now in credit0

Surely the monthly payments are calculated based either upon the anticipated annual consumption figures you provided or on your historical usage if they have enough data?0 -
no, because its fuel direct it was based on how much i owed them from another property, and how much i used. the debt was paid off last year but they wouldnt let me reduce the payments, it comes off at the source of my benefit. but the dwp say its up to the gas company and the gas company say its up to dwp, just ging around in circles0

According to Gov.uk,
You can’t use your benefits:- to pay a debt with a previous landlord or supplier (only your current one)
If the DWP really is deducting money from your benefits for a debt that no longer exists, I suggest you go and have a word with your MP.0 -
THink it might be the only course of action , that and change supplier, and not take fuel direct with me,
the spplier even said that it didnt make sense so much over there limit of £75 in credit has accumulated,0
