MPRN registration
Just completed house move 2 weeks ago and looking for alternative to previous owners energy supplier. Cheap Energy Club has usually listed same company so I attempted to sign up.
I had no problem with Electricity but there was no immediate recognition of Gas supply. After 10 days waiting I am informed that the MPRN [which I confirmed with outgoing previous owner] that Transco/National Grid could not provide in its helpline is in fact registered under my immediate neighbouring property.
Outcome is rejection of attempt to sign up with chosen energy supplier who tell me I MUST stay with existing supplier [at least for the moment].
I have emailed Transco/National Grid [and awaiting reply] but my question to forum is whether an individual can get a registration changed and on what basis?
Obviously at some time this error has not prevented a previous supply being accounted for and charged to at least two previous owners. Maybe my chosen company are to thorough!

Best not to swich supplier until you get the current issue with your meter sorted out.
Shouldn't take too long to resolve.0 -
Just had my answer.... sort of.
According to National Grid it is not them but Northern Gas Networks who would deal with this for my area.
....only NGN told me it was National Grid.
But after I queried how they both could be giving me the correct information I was told I would be called back after checking with "someone"....
...and I am stuck with current supplier for 4-6 weeks until the MPRN can be registered correctly by a company called xoserve because as an individual I cannot do anything about it.0 -
its not as simple as registering a mpr, they will need to carry out checks to ensure the supply is legally installed alsoDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
