Boiler cover

I have my boiler cover with nPower Hometeam. Two years ago it cost £10.50 per month, last year it went up to £11.50 and I've just had my renewal notice for this year and it's gone up again to £12.50.

The current plan includes one service each year, plus a £50 call-out fee if I need any repairs done.

The boiler was fitted in summer 2006, and I like to have it covered on a plan for convenience.

Any suggestions regarding better plans, or am I currently paying the going rate?

Try a local RGI who offers such a scheme; if you must have this cover on a fairly new boiler then you don't need to use the nationals.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm seeking a national scheme so there is always someone available in an emergency should I need it. I've had trouble in the past getting hold of small local independents!!

Has anyone else got any suggestions? Where do you get your boiler cover?

Check your home insurance, you may already be paying for cover - or it may be possible to add it for very little.

Local RGI services the boiler for £40.

£40, you must be joking, not in my area, and as I have said I have found small independent gas engineers very unreliable in the past, and will not risk it again!!

This is not covered by my home insurance, obviously, otherwise I would not be asking the question.

Does anyone have any boiler cover with a national company, and if so what do you get and would you recommend it?
