ATM Loans Scam

Hi, for some unknown reason I started to receive texts from a company calling themselves ATM loans. There is no number on the texts and it says sender is either ATM loans or FreeMsg. Now the text says get a loan from just 3 pound a wee, sometimes it says 2 pound a week. I don't want a loan nor have I applied. The website it takes you to has no email address and no telephone number. I have attempted to block contact but I still get the messages coming through soemtimes at 2am.I would be very careful if anyone receives a message from this company and would be grateful if anyone could help with blocking this contact forever and who to report my susspicions to. Or how to find out owner of a website. I did not wish to post a link to their website as I am not sure it was within forum rules.
Thanks

One of these 2 is probably who you should complain to.

http://www.atmloans-uk.com/ ... is that the website? They're a Canadian company (at least the website is registered there anyway). If they're supposed to be a UK company then their website breaches many rules ... no company number, no address, no phone number etc.

They also trade as Cash Cloud UK, whose website is styled slightly different but is the same template as ATM.
  • I got one of these texts earlier - immediate thought was 'that's not the best idea in the world!' then second thought was 'fake'. I'd like to know where they get the info. I for one would be delighted if Cash Lady folded - they text me an average of three or four times a week.

Atmloans-uk.com is even worse than a payday loan lender. It's a phishing website designed to steal bank account details.

I have put a warning on Web of Trust.

I have started recieving text messages of this "company" and had a bit of a look at their website...

Very basic stuff no authorities registration details from what I could see, no obvious contact details.....

Also very vauge as to if they are a lender or broker but after a bit of searching through a bit of small print at the bottom of a page says:

"Subject to approval times and lender's own policies"

Therefore a broker at best and an outright scam at worst......

    Steer clear.....

Does anyone know if they have to be FCA authorised if they are brokers? I tried the FCA search facility but couldn't see them.

I think you will find that they are actually not Canadian (necessarily), but rather have registered the domain through a Canadian company, with the purpose of obfuscating the true owner of the domain - I.e. the Canadian company acts as a proxy and only submits their details to the whois database.

On digging a little deeper, I found that they (ATMLoansUK) appear to host their website with a webhosting firm based in the UK. Also, there are more than one domain/website name using the same I.P. address, for example, wagelender.net (not to be confused with wagelender com and wagelender.co.uk).

Also of interest (to put it mildly!), in the application form, there is a section to be ticked to state that the "loan conditions" have been read, with the phrase "loan conditions" (quotes added by me) configured to be a hyperlink to a document called "Terms.html", but clicking on this link only changes the tickbox that signifies agreement, and if the underlying URL to the target ("Terms.html") is manually entered into the browser, the returns a message stating that the document does not exist!

Furthermore, one observed behaviour, is for the site to crash near the completion of the application form, and shortly after, a text message is received stating that the:
"app has been accepted but an error occurred, to finalise your app go to"... and a URL is provided, that uses the domain "apperror.com", and this can/will eventually redirect you to Key-Finance.com (a trading style of "Peoples Loan"), who will have already registered you as a member, offering you "access to a wide range of UK lenders"...etc etc, and will immediately (within seconds!) attempt to remove their membership fee of £67.88 from your bank account! At no point do they send either a test message or email to inform you of this.
While they do have a contact number (unlike ATMLoansUK), when you get to the customer services option in the phone menu, you are then informed that you can only contact customer services via email or post.

Sorry for the rather long message, but I have strong reason to believe that the above is just scraping the surface in terms of the what is happening behind the scenes of these domains, companies and websites.

Does anyone have a better knowledge of the law as relates to the above, in particular in light of the fact that the ATMLoansUK.com website would appear to be UK hosted, and Key-Finance.com/Peoples Loan, who have a UK address and claim a Credit Consumer Licence and Data Protection registration?
  • Ive recevied a text today, my main concern is they are saying I have passed a credit check and money waiting... im registered with the TPS and have been for many years so i dont understand how they obtain my informaiton, ive had a few the last few weeks. It just makes my blood boil that some 'trusted' compnay along the way whom has needed my mobile number has obviusly sold my informaition which is not fair!

If anyone finds contact information i would certianly be writting to them.

The TPS does not cover text messages, only live marketing telephone calls. As for the credit check and money waiting, it's totally bogus.

If you want to complain to anybody it will have to be the ICO. However they will not act unless you provide them with the phone number from where these texts have come. I have had two texts from ATM, one says "FreeMSG" and the other "ATM".

Based on past history, I suspect these texts are coming from abroad with the hope of you putting your bank account details into their less than secure websites.
  • just to let you know I've had a couple of sms messages the last few days from a company using the following web address "atm-loans-uk.net" which in turn redirects you to atmloans-uk.com

The phone numbers used are +447434915017 & +447434865608

Now added to my blocked list :)
  • Stupidly applied for a £100 loan from these -filled application form in but got declined ( thank god) Gave no card details and no money has been taken from account around a week ago. Can i request to bank to block any attempted fraud? would i be covered ? they have account details but no card details? Feel extremely stupid here.
