This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning :hello:

Nine courgettes and just over 13lb of broad beans were picked yesterday :T The flowers on the potato plants are starting to die off so they'll be ready soon. I've frozen some of the garlic cloves as they are, the rest have been whizzed with olive oil and frozen in little blobs. I'm sure there's some fancy-pants term for that which makes it sound more exciting and exotic than it is :D

I bought some new potatoes the other day, I'll pick some chives and make a potato salad. I want to make the mayo but have bought some instead. We're not supposed to eat Jo's eggs for 10 days because of the antibiotics, though I'm pretty sure she's not laying anyway. Her eggs are the same colour as four of the other girls so we're only eating eggs from the other four. They're on Flubenvet at the moment and their laying always slows down while they're eating that. All this has left me with Not Enough Eggs :D

I want to plant more lettuce seeds, I'm eating the others far too quickly and the poor plants can't keep up :D

I picked a bowlful of berries yesterday, I'll munch my way through them today.

• Good morning redruby and all who cross/follow :)

We were forecast rain yesterday afternoon/overnight but it never arrived and it's more humid and muggier than ever, so not a very good sleep last night.

Good job I did not have any plans for these days off, yesterday was chiropractor with DD. Today is taking GDD's new arrival, an adopted rabbit, to be neutered. Friday is DD back to chiropractor and other bunny to be neutered. Two days in work in between. It looks like a busy and expensive week.

Still haven't done meal plan but did eat YS Toulouse sausages from the freezer last night. Delicious with lentils.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

• Good morning all,

Weather beautiful here at the moment.. Taking DD to Mr. A to do her shopping and then this afternoon visiting dear friends whose wedding anniversary it is today (st. Swithins Day) They have been married as long as we have, 47 years.

Well had some work done over the weekend on laptop and have lost all my passwords. It was the devil's own job last night trying to get back on here, had to have a new password, and then couldn't get it to work. Anyway here I am, but later have to try Amazon, the trouble being I try not to use same passwords, but then I can't remember which is which.

Hugs to all poorlies and hope you find some improvement soon.

I am off for my yearly mammgram on Thursday, always relieved when that is over with.

Have a good day

Much love

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

DH up and getting ready for work. Greenhouse and plants watered, tomatoes are now starting to ripen. Washing on the line. Next load in the WM.

Dinner last night was a “using up” dinner – I had 2 x pies and 2 x chicken breasts – DH had a pie and I had a chicken breast and the boys had half a pie and half a chicken breast each with new pots, HG green beans, cabbage, carrots, peas and pancetta with gravy. Ice cream for dessert for those that wanted some. Tonight dinner will be pasta with crème fraiche sauce and mushrooms, with breaded chicken breasts – again something that needs using up – but at least I’ve forward planned better this week and I shouldn’t need to throw anything away – because it’s out of date/gone off.

Work wasn’t as busy as a normal for a Monday – but it was a gorgeous day here, I’m working at the other office today.

Vouchers came through the post yesterday – so they are in the holiday file – ready for our hols – which actually are not that far away when I was checking my diary last night!

Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone.

A love my sunny morning after the torrential rsin yesterday. Drove down from home to Glasgow and it just got worse the further south I went. Glad to see the sun again.

Still not at work today, still feeling rough so will rest up.

We' ll be having leftovers here too and probably salad too. I've rediscovered beet root and could eat it like sweets. Just worried about red wee.

Hope everyone is doing OK. Happy Tuesday.

Morning all :)

Jackieo - I was to tired too do anything but thank your post last night, I'm glad you were with family and managed to smile on a difficult day (hugs)

Big thumbs up to the gardeners, our veggie plot is the best yet this year!

DS2 came back from festival last night with a big bag of washing for me. It looks pretty overcast atm so I will wash just what I can hang indoors. I need to get his and DD photos done for their passports.

Hopefully DH will get a few days off at end of week as I really want to visit the Centre of Alternative Technology in Wales. We won't take the kids because they will be bored, and besides its nice to have a bit time together on our own.

Have a good day all xx
• Morning everyone, sunny and hot here already and forecast to be hotter all round over the next few days. I was so hot last night I was awake for most of it so feeling pretty jaded this morning. DD2 is a bit poorly so I'm off to look after her and Zebra for a few days as of tomorrow morning so today will be houseworking and ironing and making sure He Who Knows has enough in the fridge to keep him going until I get back again.

Hope you are all well and not too hot in all this sun, Lyn xxx.

Morning all

DS is home with me today as in the night he woke with a bad headache, I gave him some medicine but it is still there this morning so I thought I would let him stay at home so I can keep an eye on him, no doubt he has it because he went to after school club last night and was running around in the heat, he looked like a cooked lobster when I collected him.

I've just made a batch of flapjacks, a loaf and made a start on some apple jelly, just a quick tidy round, make the beds, hoover through and that is the housework done today, the rest of the morning will be spent mowing the lawns (I must get this done today!) weeding the borders then the afternoon I plan to continue cutting material for my quilt.

Macaroni cheese for tea tonight, so a nice easy one :)

Hope everyone has a lovely day x

Good morning everybody :hello: -

I see that some posters are feeling a little t2532.gif - so comforting.gif for you all.

Congrats to all those who've got home-grown produce coming up at the moment - you well deserve the results of your past hard work :T.

Hope everybody's plans for a day out are enjoyable - bet we're ALL really looking forward to the school holidays - right folks HSwhistle.gif.

Yesterday's 'unexpected delight' was accidentally bumping into a cousin in 'costa fortune' in my hometown. Hadn't seen her in 2yrs and it was lovely to have a catch-up. THEN very strangely, after she and her husband left, her younger brother walked past as well :rotfl:.

Dgd1 was delighted with her gift of perfume (One Direction - which totally destroyed my 'credibility' when asking for it in Boots) and vouchers to help start her off with 'stuff' for College in Sept/Oct.

Spent part of yesterday evening sewing Cub Scouts Badges on sweatshirt for step-grandson - had a lovely chat with DS1 when he came to pick it up later in the evening. Although we Mums love to see our offspring with their families, it's really good to see them on their own just occasionally :j.

Plans for today include:
• Quick visit to DD around lunchtime - looking forward to a child-free chat for a nice change :D.
• Spotted an Indigo Moon jacket - in my size - in a local charity shop for £5 ............... IF it's still there today, I'm going to assume that the Good Lord has earmarked it 'pour moi' - and I'll get it ;) ................ OH still 'owes me' a birthday present from back in May because I didn't know what I wanted :j.
• Apart from the 'possible' purchase of the above-mentioned jacket - today should be a NSD.
• Family History Group early this evening - chance to browse through some baptism/marriage records for my Family Tree. This always means a late meal for us on Tuesdays ;).
• Fishcakes - from freezer - with Salad for us this evening - OH has promised to put them in the oven for me before I get home ..............hope he remembers to switch the oven on first :rotfl:

Hope everybody has a good OS Day ahead - looking forward to logging back in later this evening to see how you've all got on.

cheers - Lilyplonk x

Morning all,

Hugs for those that want them. Congrats to Redruby on the promotion.

Bit of a carp day yesterday. DS2 took his bike out, parked it up, was only gone about half hour and some ar*ehole had obviously reversed into the front of it and driven off. The main fairing bits are literally in pieces. Can't believe the bad luck he/we have had with bikes. Perhaps he just isn't destined to have one!
Also been told DH's brother has bowel cancer. Just not a good day.

Everyone at work is a bit down as well. At least we break up next Wednesday.

Happy Tuesday x
